23rd December 2015

After four months of hard work, the grand final went off with a bang on Saturday night! And what a spectacular show it was – with the contestants each dancing twice, we got to see then dancing to their full potential. Let’s take one final look at some of the beautiful costumes and how they brought the Strictly sparkle to the screen.

As worn by Kellie Bright

Dancing the Charleston with Kevin and scoring that all elusive 40 points Kellie wore a Carnation Pink 1920’s inspired flapper girl dress. Based on a Tan Lycra leotard this dress was built up with layers of elements to make it special. The straight top neckline was created with Carnation Stretch satin with matching spaghetti straps. This gave the perfect shape for the “fringed” bust which again was created from strips of Stretch satin, which was cinched in at the waistline. From the waist was a double layer of Carnation Mesh which was decorated with a mix of Light rose and Gold quartz Preciosa Rhinestones creating geometric diamond shapes. The skirt was created using Carnation Georgette cut into pointed panels, mirroring the diamond shapes above and perfect for movement. These were lined underneath with a row of Silver and Gold Tactel fringe for the ultimate Flapper Girl look.

As worn by Katie Derham

Dancing her show dance with Anton on Saturday Katie wore a Sapphire and Gold number. As always, she looked her usual elegant and sophisticated self. Based on a Gold Metallic Dot Lycra leotard, this dress was predominantly made from Sapphire Georgette. The sheer Georgette was perfect for seeing the leotard through and giving it a two tone impression. The sweetheart neckline was draped with strings of Preciosa Rhinestones in Crystal aurum to look like a necklace. A loose boat neckline was created with a draped piece of Sapphire Georgette across the shoulders and down the back for fluidity and movement. Her tiny waist was accentuated with a wide strip of Gold Lucy Lace Ribbon. The skirt was made from the Sapphire Georgette in panels with godets, and added to them were individually attached Georgette Petals. This dress was full of intricate detail which made it perfect for a Final.

As worn by Georgia May Foote

Dancing in the group dance for the opening of Saturday night’s show, all the dancers had a similar theme for their outfits; the finalists were in purple and Georgia’s dress was one of our favourites. It’s a very basic style made from Purple Mesh, but it’s the decoration that made it. With a simple sweetheart neckline, the double spaghetti straps in Gold and Silver Metallic Dot Lycra gave it the edge. The contour detailing was created by inserting laced panels to the front and back on both sides. This was achieved using Tan Lycra as a base and Purple Mesh strings. The stoning detail was made to look like petals or flames on the body and these were done with Volcano coloured Preciosa Rhinestones; these stones compliment Purple perfectly. The skirt was created using individually applied strings from our Tactel fringe collection. On this dress, there was a mixture of Purple, Hawaiian Pink and Carnival Sequin Fringe.
